HYROX Bengaluru is planned for May 2027 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC). That's about six months away, which is a great position to be in. You have enough time to get fitter first, rather than rushing to the start line. Here's how to use it.

Your six-month plan

Dates count back from a mid-May race. Adjust them when HYROX confirms your race day.

2 · BuildJan–FebIncrease running and start learning the stationsYou can run 8 km and do all eight movements

Phase 1: get fit before you get specific

You don't need to practise burpees every day in November. Over these first two months, focus on two things:

  • Running: two or three mostly easy runs a week. HYROX has 8 km of running, and it's often the part people underestimate.
  • Strength: two full-body sessions a week, with squats, lunges, deadlifts, rows and carries. Our strength habit guide shows how to start at home.

Find the right gym

Bengaluru has plenty of gyms and functional fitness boxes, but they don't all have the right kit. Before February, look for one with a sled, SkiErg, rowing machine and wall balls. Ask whether they run HYROX classes. If you can't find one, use these alternatives, then book a few sessions somewhere with the real equipment.

StationGym alternative
SkiErgResistance-band pulldowns or battle ropes
Sled pushHeavy step-ups or walking lunges
Sled pullHeavy rows or resistance-band pulls
Wall ballsMedicine-ball squats and throws

Training for Doubles or Relay

A partner makes a long training block more fun, and much easier to stick to. Before you sign up together:

  • Match your running pace. In Doubles, you both cover every kilometre, so the slower runner usually sets the speed.
  • Split stations by strength. Decide who leads on each one, then practise it.
  • Train together once a week. Run sessions and hand-overs matter more than hard gym sessions.
  • Agree on your goal. Finishing and enjoying it is a very different race from chasing a time.

Six months is long enough to burn out

Long training blocks often go wrong in the middle, not at the start. Work, travel and hard sessions build up, so plan for it:

  • Take an easier week every four weeks or so, and cut your training by about a third.
  • Protect your sleep. Our guide to sleep, recovery and HRV shows why it matters.
  • Follow trends, not single days. One low HRV reading means little. Several days of poor sleep and a raised resting heart rate deserve attention.
  • Plan for heat. Outdoor runs get harder as the weather warms up, so try cooler early mornings and stay hydrated.

SynQ, our screenless fitness tracker, is being designed to turn these signals into plain-language guidance. It hasn't launched yet, and we'll share the India launch date and price with our waitlist first.

This week: time an easy 3 km run, and write down how many squats you can do with good form in one minute. Repeat both in January to see your progress.

HYROX training is demanding. If you have a heart condition, an injury or are new to exercise, speak to a doctor before you start, and ask a qualified coach to check your technique. Stop if you have chest pain, dizziness or unusual breathlessness.
